Ok, so this is slightly more substantial than a quiz, so quit ya bickering!
Since coming to Paris, a lot has happened, and not happened, including things I'm completely missing out on...here is a list of firsts since I've been to Paris.
First...
-time I've ever felt this alone (including high school)
-time I've sat on a urine-soaked seat on the metro (EWWWW)
-NCAA basketball tournament for Cal since I've been there
-time I've filled out a bracket (doing terribly though)
-kiss with Aaron in front of my parents (at the airport)
-time I've said goodbye to a relative with the knowledge that I'll probably never see them again
-time I've said goodbye to my puppy with that same feeling
-time living on my own
-cell phone from a foreign country
-time I've actually been not afraid to say something in French (occasionally)
-time I've enjoyed ALL of my classes
-One year anniversary
-Valentine's Day where I've had a Valentine
-21st birthday
-Birthday spent alone
-time I've been mistaken for a Parisian by a French person.
-time taking the train for a weekend away
-time I've ever missed someone this much...it actually does hurt
-time I've had a drink with a GSI (me and a couple of other people...not one on one)
-time I've actually talked to a professor or GSI more than absolutely neccesary
-time I've lived somewhere where it snowed...not as cool as it sounds, cause its COLD!
-glass of wine that I actually enjoyed
-drunken wine experience
-bottle of wine consumed in its entirety
-Kir...mmmm, might be my new favorite drink
-long distance relationship
-time I've had to commute to school
-time I've bought boots (only wore them once, and under my pants)
-time I've been actually about to run out of money, I don't really like this feeling
-club experience
-time I've actually considered developing a method for packaging mexican food and getting it sent here
-time I've actually gotten sick of cheese
-faire les bisses in Paris with a Parisian
-time I've been drunk solely from bar and restaurant drinks...St. Patty's Day, and I was still relatively sober
-time I've eaten pate....it looked more like meatloaf to me, so I deemed it ok
-time I've truly been homesick, maybe I'm not cut out for a life of travel afterall
-time I've had to hail a taxi...arg, that was quite the experience
-taxi ride home from a night of partying
-french movie watched without subtitles (l'auberge espagnole...I highly recommend it)
-time going to a movie in another country...american movies though, so they were in english and I got to compare the french subtitles to what they were saying
-time I've been this alone.
I'll probably update this as more firsts occur...in the mean time, take from my experience what you will.

A: Everything! I think I have a repetitive use injury from using the computer too much, cause my shoulder KILLS. My back also hurts from the lack of comfortable chairs in france. Plus, I've never in my life had skin that was so dry for so long. My knees also hurt from walking a lot...I think I am getting old.

So everytime I think I am making progress with the whole France situation, something comes at me that makes me regret this decision more and more. I was all set tonight to have dinner, and right before we sit down, she launches on some tirade about me leaving the light on. For clarification, I fell asleep with my little tiny bedside lamp on because I was reading (mind you, this is exactly one half of all the light in my room). I even woke up at around 3 in the morning and turned it off. But apparantly I am a wasteful american. So we sat and ate dinner in the most painful silence ever...who knew forks scraped so loudly? As she was in the kitchen preparing the next course, I counted how many lights were on in the dining/living room and I counted FIVE!!! Five really bright lamps that I am sure had been on for several hours since it gets dark pretty early. Also, when she came back with the food, she left the kitchen light on! Talk about hipocrasy. I'm sorry if this sounds trivial, but coming from living on my own, where I didn't have any rules, and always had someone to talk to....its pretty hard to come into an environment where i am always on pins and needles about making the next faux pas...and there have been plenty. Also, the only person I can talk to barely speaks the same language as I do. The city of lights or whatever the hell paris is called is no fun without someone to share it with...not even a friend I can call up and hang out with. I also found out that Aaron isn't coming to visit until I get out of school. So I won't be able to see him almost until I go home, where I would see him anyway. I try not to be selfish...but I really want to see a familiar face, and in my mind I was counting on a sooner visit. I don't know what I am doing here. Its obviously not the right choice for me if I am so unhappy, but I don't have the courage to change. I don't even know if I can, but what if I end up in a worse-off situation? I honestly don't know what to do, but I wish I could do something, or else I fear that this whole trip won't be worth the time, effort, and pain.

Ok, well my birthday kinda sucked...i spent in my room alone after spending the entire day alone and eating a leftover dinner with my madame. The day after was ok though, i got pretty drunk and went with a bunch of people to a club...yes, me, a club...this girl on the program who i had just met that day bought me THE BEST MOJITO I'VE EVER HAD!!! (sorry Aaron) I spent the rest of the night drunkenly dancing and getting hit on by creepy french guys (sorry Aaron again). Then spent the night in the dorms as to avoid the 20 Euro cabfare...eh, linoleum is not so comfy. The rest of the weekend was spent wandering around Paris by myself, getting to know the city with no particular aim of where to go. I would post pictures so far, but i am awaiting shipment of my card reader since my aunt ran over my usb card, guess i shouldnt have dropped it in the driveway. I also went to the Louvre on Sunday, cause its FREE the first sunday of the month.
Classes arent bad so far because its just a French intensive with field trips. I might actually get good grades this semester cause i haven't really been doing anything else, so I actually do my work (gasp). I don't really have any real friends yet...just people who i hang out with if we happen to be going somewhere straight from class...its that awkward time when cliques have formed, people have started inter hooking up (slim pickings with four guys on the program) and I find myself group-less. Oh well, i guess the true friends you make arent usually the ones you make the first couple days anyway (Robert would be the exception since he was my first friend at Berkeley).
I guess at this point, I am not exactly happy, but I have a routine so I can just slip into it. I hope that this gets more fun soon because it will make time pass faster and it will make this trip worthwhile. Everyone is jealous that I am here, but all I want to do is crawl home (one girl already left...but I think it was for personal reasons) I guess I am just disappointed with my homestay situation and I am left wishing that I had a different situation to make my visit all that it could be.
IMPORTANT!!! I need your addresses so I can send you post cards or letters or presents or something!
I will make a seperate friends-only post so you can post your addresses, I currently know no ones so don't assume I know yours: because I forgot to bring my address thingy.

I am seriously getting the homesick bug and find myself already counting the days until I go home. I wish I had opted to live in the dorms, not the homestays because now I am living really far away with a grandmother who is pretty damn strict. Most of the people have made friends and I still don't feel that close to people. I am kind of feeling sick, but mostly I am just tired. I never have much energy. I should be making travel plans to visit places, but I feel like I should be travelling with people, yet no one has expressed much interest in going with me...despite my subtle hints. I don't really have a phone and I'm not allowed to use my madame's so I don't really know how I will maintain contact with people. Sorry if this sounds whiny, but that's just how I feel. I just wish I had someone around me who cared.

Yea, so I don't really remember who I told, and who I didn't....so if you didn't get a personal invitation, don't let that deter you.
My parents annual tree decorating PARTY is on Sunday December 12. Sometime in the afternoon, I am not sure of the actual time but I may post it later when I figure out, but it'll be in the afternoon/evening. You should totally be there.
